The Fields Institute has a long legacy of successful industry-academic partnerships. From using quantitative analysis to model the spread of the SARS through airline networks to using machine learning to predict the licensability of photos, Fields has been a leader in developing synergistic links between mathematicians and industrial partners to develop cutting-edge research with practical applications.
Fields-CQAM builds on this history, creating a network of research laboratories that link academic disciplines and industry into province-wide innovation clusters for research and training. CQAM labs are teams of faculty investigators, graduate students, post-docs, and their industrial partners, who will engage in industry related research projects and training in the mathematical sciences. Focusing on areas of strategic importance to the province, including FinTech, machine learning, health analytics, and more, these labs transfer knowledge and talent to their industrial receptors.
Fields-CQAM currently has availability for a limited number of new labs to join the Centre for the 2018 - 2019 and 2019 - 2020 academic years. The Director and Advisory Boar invites interested applicants to submit proposals for research and training labs, with CQAM committing up to 2 years of funding for successful applicants.
To receive full consideration in the first round, proposals must be submitted electronically by 4:30 pm EDT on May 15th, 2018. Please note that applications must be submitted to CQAM via our online submission form; applications sent via e-mail will not be accepted. Proposals will be considered until all lab slots are filled.
